Julie is now a member of the Board of Directors of ROTH and has taken part in the different fundraising events for the project in Peru in 2008. Catherine Lavallière, Treasurer

SNC Lavalin
catherinelavalliere.jpgCatherine has an accounting degree from UQAM (year), and has worked for SNC-Lavalin for the last five years. In October 2010, she will begin a two year course in taxation. During the last few years, she has had the opportunity to work in many departments, namely in New York as controller of a power plant, an experience that was very enriching, professionally and personally.

She is involved in many causes, including breast cancer research, Leucanand Centraide. When she returned from New York in 2009, she decided to become actively involved with Reach Out to Humanity, because of the quality of their projects but mostly because of the commitment and devotion of its members. She supervises the budgets of the organization, but she mostly works actively towards the funding of the project in Tanzania during the summer of 2010: to build a school for the young Maasai women that will live up to their potential and their dreams.

Dominique Jutras, Secretary

Fundraising Consultant
dominiquejutras.jpgDominique has a communications degree from UQAM (1998) and one from the Cégep Saint-Laurent in philanthropy management (2009). She has worked for morethan ten years in the media industry, mostly in television as a coordinator and researcher. She then turned towards journalism in order to discover and report on Southeast Asia. In 2001, Dominique returns to Nepal, but this time, to live there for two years, with her spouse and their then five year old son, to cooperate with the CECI. Recipient in 2003 of a journalism award from Amnesty International, she has written many articles on the status of women and children in Nepal and Cambodia.Since her return to Québec in 2003, she returns regularly to Nepal. In 2008, she was part of the first Trek des femmes (Women's Trek) in Nepal, initiated by the CECI. This trek took her to Western Nepal, where she saw for herself the extreme destitution in which these isolated communities in the mountains live. She decides to take on this cause personally by organizing a fundraiser and a second Trek des femmes in Nepal in September 2009 with a dozen Quebeckers, including the actress Karine Vanasse and two cinematographers. Since 2007, Dominique works in philanthropy management for charitable organizations. She decided to join the ROTH team in 2010 because of the quality of their projects, thecommitment of the volunteers and because all the funds that are raised go directly to the disadvantaged people.

Annie St-Amant

Université Laval
anniestamant.jpgA graduate of the graphic design program of Université Laval, Annie works in technopedagogy since 2002. She uses her talents in this field to develop and promote university education and distance education. An art and culture lover, she has also immersed herself for almost four years in the Quebec film industry as principal designer for a Web portal and has experience in the cultural sector, as a photographer during red carpet events and filmlaunches. For the last year, she has shared her knowledge with adults who are pursuing continuing education at the CEGEP level.

Annie has always been a travel enthusiast, and her first humanitarian trip was in Kenya, in 2007. It is during that stay in Africa that she discovered a people that has inestimable personal strengths and that hasa lot to teach us. She is achieving her dream of returning to East Africa for a few months during the summer 2010 with ROTH, as volunteer coordinator. She wishes to broaden her horizons, grow further and to enrich herself with each new encounter. The cause of the Maasai women was the perfect reason that incited Annie to devote herself completely to the Maasai Women Education Centre project.

Frédérique Vallières

In 2006, at the age of 22, and accompanied by ROTH co-founder Alannah Delahunty, she traveled to Kenya to volunteer. During that time she met Paul O’Reilly from Ireland, Aaron Edwards from England. Sharing similar ideas of social justice, Frederique and her three colleagues decided to use their collective knowledge in health, education and construction to found Reach Out To Humanity (ROTH). Frederique likes the idea of taking a grassroots approach to changing the conditions in which people live. ROTH is staffed entirely by volunteers and all projects are 100% financed by donations.  Four years on, she continues to give her energy, ideas and compassion…
