ROTH is currently looking for volunteers both in Canada and abroad to join us on site in Arusha, Tanzania for the second phase of the construction of the MWEDO Maasai Girls Secondary School.
The first phase of the project began in the region of Arusha in Tanzania in the summer of 2010 with the construction of a school building, a dormitory and a kitchen. In January 2011, at the beginning of the school year in Tanzania, the school operated by MWEDO and recognized by the Minister of Education in Tanzania opened its doors and welcomed its first 78 students.
The second phase of the project is expected to begin on June 4, 2012 and end on August 20, 2012 with the goal of doubling the current school’s capacity and offering a new dormitory for an additional 80 young girls, three new class rooms, one library and an office space for the teaching and administrative personnel.
