Women in Crisis Centre: An Update!
01.09.2011
On April 14th, 2011, members of the Kibera community gathered to celebrate the ground breaking of the site of the future Women in Crisis Centre and Sanitation Block. The event was honoured by the presence of the Dispensary Officer of Kibera, as well as the Local Area Chief. The event was also attended by employees of Maji na Ufanisi (our implementation partner), members of the Vision Sisters Working Sisters, 6 Canadian interns, and members of the public.

The architectural plans for the WICC were generously drafted by the Toronto Based Architecture Firm, Kleinfeldt Mychajlowycz Architects Inc. The construction is well underway and running smoothly and we hope to have it completed in the next month. In order to complete the project with furniture and finishings, provide more training, and fund the initial running costs of the centre we are hoping to raise an additional $7,000.00.
