ROTH is an infrastructure building organization, committed to helping people realize and retain their rights to proper health care, clean water, education, nutrition and shelter. For the most part, that for us means building the spaces and structures communities need to continue and enhance the work of their own leaders, organizers and change-makers; a nursery, a maternal health ward, a bore hole, a girls’ school. We want to give a home to sustainable, community-owned development.
As this work takes us to new places, we’ve meet many young people with the potential and drive to be forces of change in their community. Our ROTH scholars are young people with the kind of overwhelming potential that we could not let go unfulfilled, just because they couldn’t pay school fees. We sign a contract with each Scholar, who must agree to maintain his or her high academic achievement. We are in frequent communication with the Scholars, their care-givers and/or our local partners to ensure that each student has what he or she needs to achieve their academic and life goals.
