In 2006, ROTH members and officials from the district Ministry of Health visited various health care facilities throughout the Rongai constituency. Taken aback by the outdated and overcrowded public health centres and hospitals, ROTH decided its next project would be to construct a Maternity Ward and HIV and AIDS Counseling Centre at Piave. In 2007, ROTH did just that and the first baby was born at the Maternity Ward on September 11, 2007.
In 2011, ROTH once again returned to Piave to build a laboratory in order to increase the services available at the health centre. Onsite laboratory health services decrease referrals and enable onsite testing for HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, and other national priority diseases. This enables the Piave Dispensary, Maternity Ward and HIV/AIDS Counselling Centre to operate more efficiently and increases access to health for some of the world's most vulnerable populations.
