The week began with the arduous task of shovelling about 30 tons of gravel. After having spent the morning studying for their exams, the girls were excited to come outside and give us a hand. Working together, we were able to make significant progress. The participation of the girls on the construction site is representative of the spirit, motivation, and hard work with which they approach all of their tasks.
The next step was to dig the foundations. The collaboration between the volunteers and local workers allowed us to dig all of the foundations in half the time that we had anticipated and foundations were dug in a single day.
While some of the volunteers worked outside, others were working on the Library project, making sure every book was catalogued and covered, ready for the new library.
One of our volunteers has started a journal, which we are uploading onto our Facebook page. Please like our Facebook page to follow the volunteer journal, see photos, and receive regular updates on the project.
