This week the Maasai Women Secondary School has really started to materialize. Volunteers and labourers have completed the substructure laying multiple layers of blocks, back filling the foundations, compacting the ground and filling with stone before finally pouring concrete to form the school floors. The classroom building floors were poured on Thursday and the labourers have already started building the structure up with blocks. We are amazed at the hard work and dedication the labourers have put into this project.
Last Friday our local partners, MWEDO, took ROTH volunteers on an unforgettable adventure. The lucky volunteers, were welcomed into a Maasai community north of Arusha on the boarder of Kenya and Tanzania. There they were greeted with open arms and seronated with traditional dances and songs. They sat for tea and a traditional meal and engaged in an important conversation about Maasai women and the importance of education in their community. Many thanks to MWEDO for this amazing experience.
