By Annie St-Amant

Tanzanian, Maasai and father of three children, aged 12, 14 and 19, Eliakimu is ROTH's driver during the construction of the school.

He drives the vehicle lent to us by MWEDO and helps us transport volunteers and materials to and from the site.  Since the beginning of the project on May 10th, Eliakimu has worked non-stop, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., from Monday to Sunday. When he is not driving, he works on the construction site or advises ROTH’s coordinators on the best places to buy the materials for the school. He always has incredible stories to tell us, like the time that a Black Mamba snake spat venim in his face and the time where a lion tried to devour him and he had to seek refuge in a tree during three days without water or food. With his great patience, his constant smile, his elegance, his generosity and his friendliness, Eliakimu has won the hearts of all the ROTH volunteers and has become an inspiration for all of us. Thank you Eliakimu!
